GOING GREEN
Going green; the new trend in construction. You can’t open a
magazine about design or construction or paper and the terms
‘ecological, sustainability and green’ jump from the pages. We, at
BKC have been ‘going green’ however already since the mid 80's for
our Aruban projects together with our MEP consultant at that time .
First hesitantly with roof and wall insulation, sealing of
window frames, heat exchanger’s on chilled water plants, PL-saving
fixtures and solar heat panels (projects Casa del Mar Beach resort,
Bushiri Beach Hotel school extension, Tax office), followed promptly
by also using special glass types and even going to double insulated
glass types with special reflective coatings.
All our
buildings are designed engineered nowadays with all these ‘green’
features where possible.
We also designed and engineered a
special visitors Park centre for the Arikok Nature Park which was
recently opened, all the features for minimum energy use and low
CO-2 impact, as well as minimum ecological impact during
construction are present in this project. The aesthetical design is
of such a nature that it balances perfectly with its surroundings.
We have on the drawing table the design for the main office of a
well-known local Bank that reaches zero-energy in the concept as
presented.
